The quadruple still on for Manchester City

FA Cup sixth round draw and odds
by Abi Moses on Monday 19th February 2018, 12:14pm.

The draw for the FA Cup sixth round has been made and if results go with the form book we could be set for a massive semi-final double-header between four of English football's heavyweights.
Manchester United welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Old Trafford whilst Chelsea's reward for their comprehensive 4-0 win at home to Hull City is a visit to Leicester City. Tottenham Hotspur will again need a Wembley replay to progress after they were held to a 2-2 draw away to League One strugglers, Rochdale. If Spurs escape a major giant-killing in their fifth-round replay they'll travel to the winner of the Swansea City versus Sheffield Wednesday replay.
The Premier League's runaway leaders, Manchester City face Wigan Athletic in the final fifth-round tie on Monday evening with a home tie against Southampton awaiting the winner.
With an unprecedented quadruple still very much a real possibility, Manchester City are unsurprisingly the bookies' favourites to lift a sixth FA Cup whilst 12-time winners, Manchester United are backed as the best of the rest.
FA Cup winners (odds courtesy of Betfred):
Manchester City - 7/4
Manchester United - 4/1
Chelsea - 9/2
Tottenham Hotspur - 9/2
Leicester City - 12/1
Southampton - 28/1
Brighton & Hove Albion - 40/1
Swansea City - 40/1
Sheffield Wednesday - 150/1
Wigan Athletic - 200/1
Rochdale - 1000/1

Arsenal vs Chelsea - Match Preview and Odds

Manchester City await Carabao Cup semi-final winners
by Abi Moses on Wednesday 24th January 2018, 3:12pm.

Arsenal host Chelsea in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday with a Wembley date with Manchester City awaiting the winners.
Premier League leaders, Manchester City, overcame a spirited Bristol City side on Tuesday evening to book their place in the first major cup final of the English domestic season; Pep Guardiola's first cup final in English football.
City's opponents on February 25th will be the winners of the all-London semi-final between Chelsea and Arsenal, with the tie finely balanced after a 0-0 draw in the first leg.
Hosts, Arsenal, will begin life without Manchester United new boy, Alexis Sanchez, when Chelsea make the relatively short trip to the Emirates Stadium. However, his replacement, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is cup-tied and will watch his new Gunners teammates from the stands.
The Carabao Cup may represent the best opportunity for either side to claim any silverware this season and the winner of the tie could hinge on player availability. Both sides have major injury concerns over several first team players. Chelsea are expected to be without Spanish duo, Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas for the second leg. Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger, will give a late fitness test to several Arsenal players. The Gunners boss will hope Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Nacho Monreal can all start in the season-defining match.
Arsenal have lost just once in seven meetings with Chelsea but, manager Arsene Wenger, has insisted Chelsea pose a very real threat to his side's chances of progression. Wenger explained, "The two teams are very close to each other every time they meet and the form of the day can be a decider. The strength of the motivation on the day can be a decider as well. It has always been very tight, they are two good teams who know each other well now so it's very unpredictable."
Match odds (courtesy of 888sport):

Chelsea - 17/11

FA Cup Third Round Replay - Match Previews and Odds

Chelsea amongst sides looking to book a place in round four
by Abi Moses on Wednesday 17th January 2018, 10:29am.

The final three places in this season's FA Cup fourth round will be sealed on Wednesday with a trio of Premier League clubs hoping to come through their respective replays against Football League opposition.
Reigning Premier League champions, Chelsea, welcome Norwich City to Stamford Bridge hoping to end a miserable start to 2018. Antonio Conte's side have drawn all four games so far, with the last three ending in a dour 0-0 draw; including the initial FA Cup third round game at Carrow Road.
There are suggestions that Antonio Conte could be tempted to rotate his squad again but with the FA Cup potentially offering The Blues their best chance of silverware this season, Conte is likely to select a stronger side than in the initial tie.
Elsewhere the Premier League's basement side, Swansea City, host Sky Bet Championship runaway leaders, Wolves, at the Liberty Stadium in what promises to be an edgy affair.
The Swans look much improved during the short reign of new manager, Carlos Carvalhal and an FA Cup run could provide a welcome distraction for the struggling Welshmen.
Wolves meanwhile, will hope to lay down a marker ahead of what now seems an inevitable promotion to the top-flight.
The third and final game of the evening will see Sky Bet League One leaders, Wigan Athletic, host Premier League side Bournemouth.
The Cherries came from two goals down to rescue a 2-2 draw in the initial tie. Steve Cook headed in a 92nd minute equaliser to force a replay. Eddie Howe's side followed that result up with a morale-boosting 2-1 win at home to Arsenal at the weekend and arrive at the DW Stadium full of confidence.

Mark Hughes sacked by Stoke City

Republic of Ireland manager, O'Neill, tipped for Bet365 Stadium hotseat
by Abi Moses on Sunday 7th January 2018, 12:22pm.

Stoke City were sensationally dumped out of the FA Cup by Sky Bet League Two club, Coventry City at the weekend. The result seemed to be one poor performance too many and the board made the decision to dismiss manager, Mark Hughes.
Stoke City have slipped into the Premier League's relegation zone after a run of five defeats in seven league games. With Hughes' contract up in the summer and the current transfer window offering a new manager the chance to bring in new recruits, the Stoke City hierarchy feel that now is the time for change.
Republic of Ireland manager, Martin O'Neill, has been installed as the short-priced favourite by William Hill with suggestions the former Leicester City, Aston Villa and Sunderland manager could be ready for a return to domestic football. O'Neill's Ireland suffered play-off heartache in their attempts to reach the summer's FIFA World Cup and the lure of Premier League management could be too hard to turn down.
In fact, the bookies' list of potential replacements for Hughes is dominated by ex-international managers. Ex-England boss, Steve McClaren and former Scotland boss, Gordon Strachan join O'Neill and current Northern Ireland boss, Michael O'Neill are all strongly fancied for the Stoke City job.
Meanwhile, outgoing manager, Mark Hughes, is now priced at 6/1 to make a dramatic return to the Welsh international team. Hughes was in charge of his country between 1999 and 2004 before leaving to take charge of Blackburn Rovers.
Next Permanent Stoke City Manager (odds courtesy of William Hill):
Martin O'Neill - 7/4
Steve McClaren - 8/1
Michael O'Neill - 10/1
Gordon Strachan - 10/1
Slaven Bilic - 12/1
Ronald Koeman - 12/1
Ryan Giggs - 12/1
Rafa Benitez - 16/1
Garry Monk - 20/1
Sean Dyche - 20/1

Newcastle United vs Brighton & Hove Albion - Match Preview and Odds

Newly-promoted duo aim to end win-less run
by Abi Moses on Saturday 30th December 2017, 8:06am.

Chris Hughton will return to his former club on Saturday as Brighton & Hove Albion make the long trip north to take on Newcastle United at St James Park.

Despite making an encouraging start to their respective Premier League campaigns, both sides are now looking anxiously over their shoulders as the sides at the bottom of the league start to make ground up on them. The two teams that were embroiled in a battle for the Sky Bet Championship title for most of last season are now edging nearer to a relegation dog-fight.

Brighton have managed just one win in their last nine league games whilst for Newcastle it is one win in eleven.

The Seagulls won 1-0 in the reverse fixture at the Amex back in September but have not won at St James Park since 1992. This is only the second top-flight meeting between the two sides, with this season seeing Brighton play in the Premier League for the very first time.

Newcastle United will be hoping to end a run of five consecutive home defeats in the top-flight. A sixth defeat when Brighton visit will equal the club record, set back in 1953.

Toon boss, Rafa Benitez, is aiming to become just the third foreign manager to claim 150 Premier League wins after Arsene Wenger (468) and Jose Mourinho (171). In his pre-match press conference, Benitez said, "We want to win and we think we can win, but Brighton will be thinking exactly the same. We'll try to score goals and play at the level we did at West Ham. These are the games where people expect us to compete and to win, so my concern is to approach the games with the belief that we can win."

Former Newcastle boss and current manager of Brighton, Chris Hughton, said "Newcastle are a team we know very well, we know they have a lot of quality. They haven't had the best of times of late but we know on a good day for them they can be a fairly formidable team, they have enough quality to make them very dangerous opponents."

Match odds (courtesy of William Hill):

Newcastle - 21/20
Draw - 11/5
Brighton - 16/5

Burnley vs Watford - Match Preview and Odds

Premier League high-flyers meet at Turf Moor
by Abi Moses on Saturday 9th December 2017, 12:06pm.

The Premier League's two surprise packages, Burnley and Watford meet at Turf Moor on Saturday with both sides hoping to maintain their fine start to the current Premier League campaign.
Burnley have made their best ever start to a Premier League season and currently sit seventh in the league table with 25 points from their 15 games. Saturday's visitors, Watford are also flying high after making their best start to a top-flight season since finishing second under Graham Taylor more than 30 years ago. Watford have 22 points from 15 games and can leapfrog Burnley into seventh if they win by two clear goals at Turf Moor.
Watford arrive in Lancashire having scored two goals in each of their seven away games so far, equalling the English top-flight's record. Burnley's ferocious rear-guard will provide a stern test to Marco Silva's side. The Clarets have conceded just three goals at home this season and kept four clean sheets.
Burnley manager, Sean Dyche, said "We're written off every year and we're used to that. When you have such a strong start people will find surprise in that. I've made it clear I think we're in a very healthy position, probably more so than I thought we'd be. Not because I doubt my group but because we're honest about how tough the league is."
Opposing manager, Marco Silva, added "I think both teams are having fantastic seasons. Very good starts. Of course, myself and Sean Dyche want to continue in the same way. We have a lot of Premier League games [still] to play."
In the two league games between the sides last season all three points went to the home side and Saturday's hosts, Burnley, are slight favourites with the bookies.
Match odds (courtesy of Ladbrokes):
Burnley - 6/4
Draw - 21/10
Watford - 2/1

Brighton target fifth game without defeat

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Stoke City - Match Preview and Odds
by Abi Moses on Monday 20th November 2017, 6:26pm.

Brighton & Hove Albion host Stoke City on Monday evening with both sides hoping to build on an encouraging start to the season and move further away of the bottom three.
Ahead of the visit, Stoke sit in 15th place, three points clear of West Ham United in the final relegation spot. Monday's hosts, newly-promoted Brighton are three points better off and currently sit in a credible 9th position.
Stoke City have the upper hand in recent meetings between the two sides, winning eight successive games in all competitions but the pair have not met in the top flight since February 1983.
After beating Watford at Vicarage Road last time out, Mark Hughes' Stoke City are chasing back-to-back Premier League wins since October 2015. Standing in their way are a Brighton side that have not tasted defeat in the Premier League in their last four games. The Seagulls have not won five top-flight games in a row since April 1983.
Ahead of Stoke's visit, Brighton manager, Chris Hughton, said "Going into the international break winning at Swansea was massive because we knew the schedule that was coming up over the next six weeks and into the Christmas period and new year."
He continued, "There'll be a period that will test us and give us an indication of where we are, but we knew that was coming and we have to be prepared for it - whether that is over the upcoming weeks or in the latter half of the season."
Match Odds (courtesy of William Hill)
Brighton & Hove Albion - 7/5
Draw - 2/1
Stoke City - 12/5

Back France to win the World Cup at 11/1 with Unibet

FIFA World Cup odds
by Abi Moses on Thursday 9th November 2017, 5:20pm.

With just seven months until the FIFA World Cup gets underway in Russia next summer, bookies and punters alike will have one eye on this week's friendlies in an attempt to gauge how the major nations are progressing in the buildup to Russia.
Here at Betting Codes we're always on the lookout for the best odds available to our members and if you fancy France to mark the 20th anniversary of their maiden World Cup triumph then we have an incredibly generous opportunity available via Unibet.
The odds offered via the popular bookmaker are almost double those available anywhere else! Commonly France are available at between 5/1 and 6/1 but Unibet have priced the 1998 champions at a very tempting 11/1.
This isn't a promotional offer, or an 'enhanced odds' offer, available exclusively to new customer but, quite simply, Unibet do not fancy Les Bleus.
Why France could be a solid bet
France unexpectedly fell at the final hurdle last summer when the Euro 2016 hosts lost the final in extra-time to Portugal but Didier Deschamps has plenty of reasons to be confident his side can go one better in Russia. Many key players from the ill-fated European Championships remain, including Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba, N'Golo Kante and Hugo Lloris, but next summer they will be joined by the latest superstars off the French production line.
Since losing to Portugal the likes of Kylian MbappeOusmane Dembele, Thomas Lemar and Tiemoue Bakayoko have burst on the scene whilst the likes of Samuel Umtiti, Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial and Adrien Rabiot will be better for the two years extra experience gained since the Euros.
If you aren't already a Unibet customer then sign up today via Betting Codes and you can earn a welcome bonus of £30 to get you started.

Unsworth tipped for permanent Everton role

Next Everton manager odds
by Abi Moses on Wednesday 8th November 2017, 7:22pm.

Premier League strugglers, Everton, remain without a manager today but the bookies' latest odds suggest it is now a straight fight for the Goodison Park hot seat between caretaker manager, David Unsworth and former England boss, Sam Allardyce.
Earlier this week bookmakers saw a flurry of bets on Diego Simeone becoming Ronald Koeman's successor after the Atletico Madrid boss was named as the top managerial target of Everton owner, Farhad Moshiri.
The Everton supremo is believed to have drawn up a four-man shortlist and is expected to meet with his fellow board members before the weekend.
If Everton are to prize Simeone away from Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid then a summer appointment may be more realistic than the possibility of the Argentine leaving mid-season. That, makes the current caretaker boss, Unsworth an attractive prospect for both Everton and potential bettors.
Unsworth's chances will also be improved by the tremendous character his side displayed when coming back from 2-0 down to beat Watford 3-2 last weekend. Although many at the club will be disappointed by the 3-0 loss to Lyon that prompted their premature exit from the UEFA Europa League, which could of course count against Unsworth.
Sam Allardyce has previously insisted he isn't interested in a return to club management, citing "unfinished business" on the international stage. But, he is believed to have held talks with the Everton hierarchy and the experience he brings to the table could see Mr Moshiri wave a sizeable cheque in Big Sam's face.
Next Permanent Everton Manager odds (courtesy of Ladbrokes):
David Unsworth - 11/10
Sam Allardyce - 5/4
Marco Silva - 7/1
Sean Dyche - 8/1
Diego Simeone - 16/1
Guus Hiddink - 20/1
Thomas Tuchel - 25/1

Big guns in action on Super Sunday

Premier League - Match Previews and Odds
by Abi Moses on Sunday 5th November 2017, 9:14am.

All of the Premier League's current top five are in action on Sunday with four mouth-watering games set to take place across the country.
Tottenham Hotspur will be back at Wembley Stadium just four days since recording a famous 3-1 win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. Their opponents on Sunday will be the Premier League's bottom-club, Crystal Palace.
Kicking off at 12:15pm gives Spurs the opportunity to put pressure on the sides immediately above them, especially with Manchester City and United facing huge games later on Sunday.
League leaders, Manchester City, host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium at 14:15pm and can equal a club-record of nine consecutive league wins with another three points. Pep Guardiola's side have been in irresistible form so far, this season, with their 1-1 draw at home to Everton the only blemish on an otherwise perfect start. City have earned 28 points from a possible 30 in their first ten Premier League games. Only twice before have a side earned 28 points at this stage with both Chelsea in 2005 and City in 2011 going on to win the title from a flying start.
Second-placed Manchester United face a massive challenge on Sunday afternoon with Jose Mourinho returning to his old club, Chelsea. En route to claiming the Premier League title, the Blues ran out comfortable 4-0 winners when the sides met at Stamford Bridge last season, a defeat that Mourinho and his team will be aiming to avenge.
Chelsea have lost two of their first five home league games this season, matching the total defeats that they suffered at Stamford Bridge in the whole of their title-winning 2016/17 campaign. They do however, have a fine record against the Red Devils. Chelsea have lost just one of their last fifteen home league games against Manchester United.
In the final game of a super Sunday, manager-less Everton will aim to climb out of the relegation zone when Watford arrive at Goodison Park. Ronald Koeman was dismissed by Everton after the Toffees got their Premier League campaign off to a woeful start. Everton's return of just eight points from ten games represents their worst start to a season in eleven years.
