World Champions, Germany, will play Mexico in the semi-final of the Confederations Cup on Thursday, with Chile awaiting the winners in Sunday's final.
Despite naming an experimental squad for the competition, leaving household names including Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer and Mesut Ozil behind, the Germans have looked impressive throughout the competition and now sit just ninety minutes away from a place in the final.
Germany are now unbeaten in 13 internationals and topped Group B, ahead of finalists, Chile. Manager Joachim Low has expressed his delight with how his young side have performed in Russia.
Ahead of their semi-final clash with Mexico, Low said "I'm really happy to be in the semi-final with this side. Our main aim is always to be one of the last four teams in any competition and you couldn't necessarily expect that from this team."
Lowe added, "It's nice that the team is bonding, because the players are spending time with each other off the pitch too. They're incredibly happy to be here. Not a single player is seeking to be in the spotlight - instead they all want to succeed as a team."
Opponents, Mexico, qualified for the competition after winning the CONCECAF. Finishing second in Group A behind Euro 2016 winners, Portugal, they will have to pull off an upset if they are to repeat their 1999 success.
The Mexicans do remain unbeaten in the competition winning two and drawing one in their three group games, missing out on top spot on goal difference.
