West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion meet at the London Stadium on Friday evening where a win for either side will be enough to lift them into the top half of the Premier League table, for 24 hours at least.

West Ham look to have finally turned the corner after a difficult start to the season, easing the pressure somewhat on manager, Slaven Bilic. The World Athletics Championships were held at the London Stadium this summer which meant West Ham did not play a home fixture until September. By the time The Hammers took to the London Stadium pitch for their 2-0 against Huddersfield Town they had already lost three consecutive games on the road. Summer signing, Joe Hart, was singled out for intense criticism from many supporters, whilst Bilic looked set to be replaced as manager by Carlo Ancelotti.

Their early-season struggles now seem just a distant memory after recording eight points from their subsequent five matches. Their only defeat in that run came against title-challengers, Tottenham Hotspur.

On his future, Bilic explained, "It's calm at the moment but it can change tonight. Whoever gets three points tonight, or after the weekend, is going have a calm week. But then you have those hurricanes, there's no point trying to think about that."

Like West Ham, Friday's opponents, Brighton, have put a difficult August behind them to adapt to the Premier League fairly well. The Seagulls, in their maiden Premier League season earned just one point from a possible nine in August but their point at home to Everton last weekend took their tally to seven points from the next five games.

Brighton's Achilles heel this season has been their away form. Chris Hughton's side are yet to record a single win in any competition on the road this season, scoring just once in five games.
